Marvin Lee Slavens

Marvin Lee Slavens, 77, a lifelong resident of Lebanon, Mo. passed away Friday, March 22, 2024. He was born November 13, 1946, to Roy and Bertha Slavens.

Marvin served honorably in the United States Army from April of 1966 to November of 1968. On November 23, 1968, shortly after his military service ended, he went on his last first date with Lynn Janssen. The two were married May 12, 1969, and spent the next 54 years together. In his spare time Marvin enjoyed studying astronomy, playing guitar and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Slavens; his mother, Bertha Slavens; his sister, Helen West; his brother, Jimmy Slavens; and his sister-in-law, Freida Slavens.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Lynn (Janssen) Slavens; his daughters, Lorie True and husband Gary and Karen Moore and significant other, Donnie Smith; his grandchildren, Justin McNeeley and wife Tashaina, Brianna Musgrave and husband Casey, and Mikayla Climer; his great grandchildren, Lainee McNeeley, Brynlee McNeeley, and Lilah Musgrave; his siblings, Charles Slavens, Tommy Slavens and wife Diane, Ronald Slavens and wife Vy, William Slavens and wife Debbie, Arthur Slavens and wife Dawn; his sister-in-law, Regina Slavens; many nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, March 29, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the American Legion Post #43 in Lebanon, Mo.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services in Springfield, Mo.
