MARSHA JEAN (SWEANEY) MARTIN

Marsha Jean (Sweaney) Martin, 75, of Buffalo, died Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at Citizens Memorial Hospital of Bolivar.

She was born Dec. 16, 1945, at Buffalo, Mo. to Claude T. and Elva M. (Keith) Sweaney.

Marsha married Gary Wayne Martin in 1969.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her paternal grandparents Willy and Pearl (Revens) Sweaney; maternal grandparents, Jimmy and Ida (Haney) Keith; her brothers, Dillard D. Sweaney and wife Beulah, James W. Sweaney and wife Nora, and her sisters Dixie C. Hensley-Cross and husbands Bill Hensley and Don Cross.

Marsha received her bachelor’s degree in education from Missouri State University and master’s degree in counseling from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colo. She taught in public schools for over 45 years.

Survivors include her sister M. Joanne Stilen and husband Leon of Omaha, Neb.; her daughter, Leigh Ann Alford and husband Clint L.; three grandchildren, Clint Tyler, Mackenzie Rea and Hunter Paige Alford of Stockton; many nieces and nephews; a brother, Randle and wife Brenda Sweaney of Buffalo, and many, many cousins.

Memorial graveside services for Marsha Jean (Sweaney) Martin will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2021, in the Sweaney Cemetery in Buffalo, under the direction of Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at the Dallas County Alumni Building in Buffalo.
