Funeral service for Margaret Henrietta Hale, 88, of Norfolk, Va. will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Norfolk. Father Pat McLaughlin will be officiating the service. Interment will be held at the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Norfolk. Visitation will begin 1 hour prior to the service on Tuesday also at the church. Margaret passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at the Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Margaret was born June 6, 1934 in Lebanon to Will and Marie (Caufield) Kuhn. She attended St. Frances De Sales Catholic School to the 8th Grade in Lebanon. She then graduated from Lebanon Public High School in 1952. Margaret was a Carrier Bookkeeper for the Lebanon Daily News and a USO Junior Hostess for the Lebanon USO. There she met her future husband, St. Gerald Hale of Wayne, Nebraska. They were united in marriage Nov. 23, 1953 at the St. Frances De Sales Catholic Church in Lebanon.

Margaret and Gerald moved to Wayne, Nebraska after his discharge from the United States Army. Together they farmed and fed cattle in Wayne County and she worked at the Colonial Manor in Randolph, Neb. for 10 years. They moved to Norfolk, Neb. in 1999. Gerald passed away May 1, 2001. Margaret was a member of the Sacred Heart Church Parish and Sacred Heart Altar Society. Margaret enjoyed traveling with her husband and reading.

Margaret is survived by a son, Brad (Donna) Hale of Elkhorn, Neb.; a daughter Carla (Tom) Grosserode of Norfolk, Neb.; a grandson and a granddaughter, 3 step-grandchildren, 2 great-grandson’s, 1 great-granddaughter, 3 step-great-grandsons and 3 step-great-granddaughters, a sister-in-law Winona Kreycik of Verdigre, Neb. and also nieces and nephews.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Gerald, a daughter Katrina, her parents Will and Marie Kuhn, two brothers, John Kuhn and his wife Pauline of Lebanon; Robert Kuhn and his wife Francis Kuhn of Blythewood, S.C.; a sister Mary Mills and her husband John of Springfield’ brother-in-law Earl Winner of Missoula, Mont., sister-in-law Darlene Lockwood and her husband Don of Ronan, Mont., and brother-in-law Marvin Kreycik of Verdigre, Neb.

Arrangements are under the direction of Stonacek Funeral Chapel of Norfolk, Neb.
