Margaret Elaine (Shewey) Belt, 97, of Augusta, Kan. formerly of Lebanon, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021, in the home of her daughter in Augusta, Kan.
She was born Jan. 2, 1924, in Edmond, Kan. to Arnold and Mary (Wright) Shewey. In February 1947 she married Dillard Belt. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dillard; her brothers and sisters; two children, Linda and Ollie; and a grandson, Ronald Cantu.
Margaret and her husband raised four children in Augusta, Kan. In 1983, they retired to a farm in Windyville. They then moved to Lebanon in 2000 until Dillard’s death in 2011. She moved to her granddaughter’s home in Springfield before returning to Augusta, Kan. She was a Christian and enjoyed her membership in the Baptist Church.
Margaret is survived by a daughter, Katherine, and son, Daniel; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial for Margaret Elaine (Shewey) Belt will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021, in the Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Long Lane under the care and direction of Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo.
