Lowe Boats suspends production

Posted
Brunswick Corporation is suspending production at its Lowe Boats plant in Lebanon, in response to the impact of COVID-19. Lee Gordon, director of Brunswick Marine Public Relations, said Monday the company would shut down all of its manufacturing facilities for two to three weeks. He said the Lebanon plant has 278 employees and 219 of them are hourly. “Those who are able to work from home are doing so to ensure our operations are running smoothly during this time,” Gordon said in an email to the Record. He said the employees aren’t losing their positions and will all have their jobs after the shutdown ends in a few weeks. Gordon said Brunswick has introduced wage continuation programs to assist employees affected by a Coronavirus-related business interruption. He said the payment is not 100 percent of the employees’ wages for the shutdown period, but eases the employees' financial burden. For more on this story see Wednesday's LCR.
