Lorna Maye Chaney, 80, of Springfield, formerly of Lebanon, died Monday morning, March 29, 2021, in the care of her family in Springfield.

She was born Aug. 27, 1940, in Iowa City, Iowa to Marvin J. and Ellen V. Adams.

Lorna was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents, Edwin and Myrtle Adams; two brothers, Marvin J. Adams Jr. and Glen Adams; a sister, Beverly Houston; a grandson, Ryan; and a great-grandson, Gavin.

She was raised in Iowa and then lived in Kansas for a few years. She then moved to Missouri where she made her home for most of her life. She did live in Colorado for nine years, finally retiring back to Missouri. Throughout her life she worked as a graphic designer for various companies and also was a devoted homemaker to her family.

Leona accepted Christ early in her life and considered Community Baptist Church in Lebanon as her home church. She loved singing for churches and revivals throughout her life.

She is survived by three daughters Laurie Parten and her husband Phil of Henderson, Tenn.; Suzie Dennis and her husband Ron of Lebanon, and Jaclyn Chaney of Springfield; a son, Curtis Owen and his wife Lori of St. Thomas, Mo.; 14 grandchildren, Melissa, Christopher, Jonathan, Jesse, Shelley, Steven, Aaron, Adam, Connie, Christa, Stephanie, Melony, Megan, and Jessica; a number of great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, other daughter, Emily Piland.

Funeral services for Lorna Maye Chaney were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2021, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home with the Rev. Allen Reeves and Valerie Howe officiating. Visitation was from 1 p.m. Thursday until service time at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon.
