LOIS “EVELYN’’ McCORMICK

Lois “Evelyn’’ McCormick, 96, of Lebanon, died Sept. 29, 2021.

She was born Feb. 2, 1925, in Falcon, Mo. to Oran and Goldie Roberts Hemphill.

Evelyn was united in marriage to Clarence “Willard’’ McCormick, and from this union one son was born. Willard preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Dale, Don, Harold, and Darius Hemphill; four sisters, Bonnie Hemphill, Bernice Dickens and her husband Glenn, and Juanita “Jiggs’’ Uder and her husband Howard, Louise Eady, and her husband Richard Eady.

Evelyn was raised and went to school in Falcon and Lebanon communities. She obtained her cosmetology license and operated a beauty shop for many years, and eventually began working at H.D. Lee until she reached retirement age. Evelyn was devoted to her family and enjoyed painting ceramics, gardening and canning, plus baking sweets, especially cakes for her family and friends. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring friend.

She is survived by a son, Loren Dale McCormick of Osage Beach; two grandchildren, Brandon Scott McCormick and his wife Melissa of Lebanon, and Tracy Lynn Taylor and her husband Steven of Carl Junction, Mo.; one great-grandchild, Hayden McCormick; three step-great-grandchildren, Anessa Taylor, Garret Taylor, and Chloe Taylor, all of Carl Junction, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Alberta Hemphill of Lebanon; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Eveyn’s wish was for a small graveside service for immediate family members only will be respected. In lieu of flowers, the family asks to send any donations to New Home Cemetery: Randall Jones, in care of New Home Church, 2430 Snowberry, Lebanon, Mo. 65536.
