Lindsay Ell: Right On Time

Posted

Every once in a while you meet a soul that’s so genuine, you know they’re destined for greatness. Lindsay Ell is one of those souls.

The Canadian country phenomenon has toured her talents across the globe, but recently made a stop at the Lake of the Ozarks supporting Little Big Town’s 2022 North American tour.

“This is the first time we've played at the Ozarks Amphitheater and it is so beautiful I'm like… can we just stay and camp here for a few days? It is just amazing. I love this place,” she laughed. “I want to move in.”

Ell has released five albums since entering the country music scene as a teen and is currently recording a sixth album.

“Right now I am working on new music in the studio, which I'm just so excited about. I released a song called “Right On Time” a few weeks ago and that's sort of the start of the new chapter of new music,” she explained.

According to Ell, the excitement she feels over her new tracks stem from a deep place of self-love and self-worth, something seemingly everyone has struggled with at one time or another in their lives.

“Right On Time. It's about knowing that you're exactly where you're supposed to be in life, whatever that means for you.. and you don't need to compare your life to other people's stories.” she added. “Specifically, I wrote it for women, because I feel like as women, we feel more pressure from every direction. From societal pressures, and from social media and from friends and family… I just think it's an important thing to remember that we're exactly where we need to be. We're doing what we need to do and writing our own story.”

The song has been dubbed a female feel-good anthem, which makes for a perfect supporting song for fellow Canadian country queen, Shania Twain. Ell recently opened for Shania at Canada’s Boots and Hearts festival, the only show she has played this year outside of her Vegas residency.

“I'm like pinching myself, you know, Shania is my idol. When I was a little girl, I would sing in front of the mirror with a fake microphone and pretend like I was Shania Twain,” Ell said. “So to be able to open for one of my biggest heroes… it's just crazy. You know, she's the queen.”

From Canada to the U.S. and soon to be playing a tour leg in the UK, Ell is taking full advantage of live music’s return. Ell is no stranger to an international audience, crediting a lot of her success to her dedicated fans in other countries. At one point, Ell played in eight different countries in just 32 days. She said she and her band haven’t ever taken their jobs for granted but in a post-COVID world, she appreciates every second she gets to spend onstage.

“I don’t think there will ever be a stage that the band and I walk on that we don’t like, kiss the hallowed ground,” she smiled. “It feels so good to be able to get back on the tour bus and out on the road and I’m just so grateful that people want to come see us play and artists like Little Big Town or Shania Twain who want to bring me out to play on the same stage as them.”

Ell will play a few shows in Germany before kicking off her UK tour run with the Cadillac Three and ending her overseas stint with a set at the 15th CMC Rocks festival in Australia.

“I love music and it's what I think about when I get up in the morning and the last thing on my mind at night. I ultimately want to do this so that I can make a difference and hopefully inspire people to look further into themselves and go after their passions and follow their hearts,” Ell stated.

“I hope I am blessed with the opportunity to be able to do this for the rest of my life.”

“Come say hi to me on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter,” she added. “It is always me on on those pages so come say hello!”
