LHS tennis players take 4th at Springfield Invitational

Ethan Fisher and Conor McGruder took fourth place out of fifty teams at the Springfield Invitational Tournament on Wednesday.
Tennis Coach Ron Crowell wrote about Wednesday’s achievement, adding that every athlete played well in one of the state’s largest tennis tournament.
He added that Josh Rogers and Kasey Hicks nearly pulled off an upset in their match against Poplar Bluff and that Denver Woodruff did well with a 3-1 record by the end of the day.
“I was super proud of this team!” Crowell wrote.
Results
McGruder and Fisher in doubles won against Central 6-0, Parkview 8-1, and Rockbridge 8-3. They lost against Bolivar 9-7 and Joplin 8-6.
Hicks and Rogers in doubles won against Cape Central 6-0 and Greenwood 6-0. They lost against Poplar Bluff 9-8 and Ozark 6-3.
In singles play, Woodruff won against Willard 7-5, Carl Junction 6-5 and Glendale 6-0. He lost against Rolla 6-1.
In singles play, Teigan Vance lost against Springfield Catholic 6-2, Greenwood 6-4, and Central 6-1.
