LHS students to present 'Midsummer Night's Dream'

Lebanon High School students will present William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at 7 p.m. Feb. 22, 23 and 24 at the Cowan Civic Center. Admission is $5 for students and staff and $8 for the public. Instructor Sabrina Sander said this was her first time doing a Shakespeare play. “This show is my first time doing Shakespeare and their’s as well. Typically a play is easier to get done than a musical, but this show definitely posed some challenges for the students. Shakespeare's language is a challenge and I was much harder on the students this time around, because the lines need to be exactly right to sound the way they should. We spent a lot of time working on understanding the language and understanding what was happening in the story. There are many ways that these characters can be played and I wanted the actors to be able to choose the portrayal, but they first had to fully understand everything. I know that Shakespeare is not everyone's cup of tea, but I am convinced those people who hate Shakespeare just didn't enjoy reading it when they were in high school. Watching Shakespeare is completely different, and I think the students have realized this, and I hope the community does as well,” she said.  Cast members are: Lysander: Joseph Schuneman, Hermia: Olivia Clifton, Helena: Sienna Henery, Demetrius: Jayce O’Quinn, Titania: Alia Barker, Oberon: Blaine Flores, Puck: Sophie Evans, Theseus: Jack Watson, Hippolyta: Bella Anderson, Egeus: Nate Carey, Nick Bottom: Dallin Schuneman, Peter Quince: Jackson VanFosson, Francis Flute: Cole Waters, Tom Snout: Makenna Norris, Robin Starveling: Matt Henery, Snug: Addison Angst, Philostrate: James Peregoy, Peaseblossom: Brooklynne Rose, Cobweb: Hannah Riley, Mustardseed: Zoe Bressner, Mote: Ida Wyant, Fairies/Attendants: Guenon Lund, Karah Dameron, Light Monroe, Jeng Kingnak, Josie Wadley, Leo Bloodworth, Victoria Little, Nora Clifton.
