One of the most recognizable ditties on television today is the song played during the final round of “Jeopardy!” as contestants ponder both their answer and their wager.
For Lebanon native Ben Hamman, hearing it in person on the Sony Studios set in Los Angeles was a lifelong dream come true.
“I started watching ‘Jeopardy!’ when I was a kid. I’ve always loved trivia. I was on the Quiz Bowl team in high school. It’s something that I kind of had always thought would be cool and wanted to do, and Trebek is Trebek. I definitely wanted that opportunity to meet Alex Trebek,” said Hamman, who now lives in Missoula, Mont.

Because of careful wagering, Hamman was one right answer from winning the game in final Jeopardy but could not find it.
“I bet just enough that if I got it right and first place bet $0, I would have won by a dollar. First place got it wrong but still won, so if I’d  gotten it right, I would have won the game, which I will live with for the rest of my life,” Hamman said before chuckling.
It was an impressive showing especially considering how the game began.
