LESTER (BUD) LEE SHELTON

Lester (Bud) Lee Shelton, 92, of Crocker, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020, in Columbia.

He was born May 1, 1928, in Hawkeye, Mo. to John Riley and Mary Elizabeth Long Shelton.

On May 1, 1955, he married Betty Jane Peterson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Kenneth, Danny, Wilbert, Green Berry, Homer and Birley Shelton and by three sisters, Pearl Riggen, Jewell Hannah and Veda Wrinkle.

Lester graduated from Crocker High School in 1946. He was employed with Mobile Home in the Sky, as an installer for several years and was also employed at several boat factories and at a body shop in Richland.

He attended Concord Christian Church for several years, before becoming a faithful and active member of Swedeborg Christian Church in 1955, where he served as an elder for 59 years.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Betty Shelton; one son, Darrel Shelton of Waynesville; three daughters, Barbara Stewart and her husband Stan of Heath, Texas; Brenda York and her husband Randy of Richland and Julie Whittle and her husband Gene of Crocker; one sister, Lois Dickey of Lamar; six grandchildren, Bethany McMahan, Rachel Newman, Luke Stewart, Karson York and Dalton and Fawn Whittle; five great-grandchildren, Courtney and Syndey McMahan, Emmi, Sean and Visa Newman; three step-grandchildren; other relatives and many dear friends.

Funeral services for Lester (Bud) Lee Shelton will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020, at Swedeborg Christian Church with Doug Jacobson officiating. Burial will be in St. John-Swede Cemetery near Richland, under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel of Lebanon. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020, until service time at 1 p.m., also at Swedeborg Christian Church. To sign the guestbook online please visit shadelscolonialchapel.com. Under the guidelines of the CDC and the state of Missouri, the staff of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel ask that you observe social distancing and proper hygiene. Masks are suggested. Those guidelines will be monitored during this time to accommodate the family and their wishes.
