One of the best-known local proponents of Route 66 nostalgia, Ramona Lehman, 85, owner of the Munger Moss Motel, died Aug. 2 after an automobile accident left her hospitalized. Known in local Route 66 circles as the “Queen of Route 66,” Lehman was active in keeping the nostalgia for all things related to Route 66 alive. In an interview with the Laclede County Record two years ago, Lehman said, “For many years, Route 66 didn’t mean anything to a lot of people, but then all of a sudden, Lebanon has taken to Route 66, and I’m very proud of it. Our goal is to preserve it and keep it.’’ For more on this story, see the LCR.
