The Lebanon varsity football team crowned their homecoming week with a win against Willard Friday. The 55-34 win put the Yellowjackets at an even win-loss season record.
Going into the home game, Lebanon had a 1-2 record, having lost at Neosho (who is now 4-0 for the season) 47-17. Willard had a 1-2 record going into Friday’s game. A crowd filled the high school’s stadium as they waited to see who came out on top.
Lebanon’s #10 Elisha Simmonds made the first touchdown of the game, followed by #42 Rhett Rhoades’ successful kick. The success started an early lead for the ‘Jackets that the Tigers only began to push back on in the second quarter. Lebanon still ended the first half in the lead.
During halftime, the Lebanon High School Marching Band performed a section of its show. LHS then crowned its Homecoming King, Westyn McKinney, and Homecoming Queen, Karah Dameron.
The second half saw Willard score more points, but Lebanon ultimately kept their lead and took the homecoming victory. The ‘Jackets also won last year’s homecoming game, where they beat Glendale 49-28.
Lebanon’s junior varsity football team (2-1) next played an away game against Willard (1-3) on Monday. The varsity ‘Jackets next play against the Nixa Eagles (4-0) in Nixa Thursday.
