In their first round game of the Lebanon Mid-Missouri Bank I-44 Lady’s Classic on Thursday night, the Lebanon High School girls’ basketball team defeated the St. Charles Pirates, 58-37.
It was a back-and-forth contest for a majority of the first quarter with the Lady ‘Jackets unable to stop the Pirates’ inside presence of Chanel Davis, but a 14 point first half for senior Jenna Glendenning and eight points from freshman Raegan McCowan gave LHS a 33-27 lead heading into halftime.
During the second half, the defense of Lebanon was stifling and held St. Charles to only ten points in the final two quarters. Along with solid performances from Glendenning and McCowan, LHS also got nine crucial points from sophomore Destiny Zimdars and 10 points from Makayah Alexander.
“I thought Destiny Zimdars came in and did a nice job defensively and with rebounding as well as scoring,” Lebanon head coach Jacky Payne said. “Jenna knocked down four three-pointers for us (on Thursday) and she has been working on that part of her game after practices.”
