Lebanon volleyball wins bronze bracket at Branson

Posted

The Lebanon High School volleyball team finished the 16-team Branson tournament as the Bronze bracket champions on Saturday afternoon.

In the championship, Lebanon (3-2 overall) defeated the Strafford Indians in three sets (25-22, 20-25, 25-16) to bring home the title after defeating Parkview in the semifinals of bracket play (25-8, 25-20). Still, the team struggled a bit in pool play earlier in the day.

“We had to sit a long time before our first match of bracket play and then had another long break before playing in the championship match,” head coach Jenny Collins said. “Sometimes those long delays can cause for sluggish play, but that wasn’t the case.

“In the last match against Strafford, it was a complete team effort. Together our team tallied 32 kills behind match kill leaders Myah Hough (12) and Claire Esther (eight). We also served 12 aces with Jocee Pettyjohn, earning six of those. The match was a lot of fun and a great way to end the tournament play.”

In their respective pool, the ‘Jackets defeated Fair Grove (25-18, 25-18), but lost to Carthage (18-25, 22-25) and Jeff City Helias (19-25, 19-25).
