Our match against Nixa may not have ended in a win, but it was a testament to our teamwork, resilience and dedication to each other. We approached the match with a strategy of defense starting at the net, aggressive serving and smart plays. I think we did a good job of challenging Nixa in a lot of ways. When we serve-received the ball well we made ourselves equally tough to defend. And credit to our back line led by libero Saylor Helton with 20 digs on the night, but they all did a nice job of stepping into position to defend some really hard-hit tough balls.
We were able to get solid offensive contributions from our pin hitters Addy Rebmann and Rilee Jackson who earned 18 and 8 kills consecutively. Middle Hitter Kaidynce Buttram added 6 kills.
There were some times in our play and rallies that I would have liked to have seen us transition quicker and send the out-of-system balls over the net tougher, but overall we didn't make silly mistakes.
We were able to take set 3 against them and after dropping the first two sets, I think it was a testament to our resiliency. I am proud of the way that we continued to put up a fight.
