A Lebanon man is charged with abuse of an elderly person, a Class A misdemeanor.
According to the charge, Timothy Leon Farris, age 28, knowingly acted in a manner that resulted in substantial risk to the life or health of an elderly person by depriving them of their source of oxygen.
The case is set for a bond hearing at 9 a.m. June 15.

According to the probable cause statement, Lebanon Police Officer Christopher Carrasco said he took a report of elder abuse June 3 in the 500 block of Sweet Street. A caretaker told Carrasco that Farris poured water on a 75-year-old woman and poured rubbing alcohol into her drink. She told police that Farris constantly smokes cigarettes and marijuana in the house and will turn off power to the residence, cutting off her oxygen. She said he also took the oxygen away and used it to cool himself. The woman told police she did not feel like she was being abused and did not know about anything being put into her drink. However police thought she may have early stages of dementia or another issue. Police asked Farris if he smokes in the home and turns off the power to the home.

“Farris stated with a smile that he’s so high most of the time that he has no idea why he does what he does,” according to the statement.

He denied putting rubbing alcohol in the woman’s drink. Police were called to the house again June 4 and the woman told them Farris would not stop turning off the power to her oxygen and the house. Farris was taken into custody after continuing to turn off the power to the house.
