Lebanon girls’ wrestling wins second State title

Halea Bartel finishes runner-up for LHS

NDEPENDENCE — It feels like just yesterday when the 2019 Lebanon High School girls’ wrestling team captured the school's first team state title.

In front of a limited capacity crowd at Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence, the Lady ‘Jackets ran through their competition to win the team's second MSHSAA Girls Wrestling Championship in three years on Monday night.

When the team won their championship in 2019, Lebanon had to rely on a wrestler from Wildwood to lose a match to clinch their title. In 2021, the team had wrapped up the championship before the start of the final round.

Lebanon finished the day with 101 points, outlasting Layfatte Wildwood, which had 81.5 points. Washington placed third with 61 points, Harrisonville had 59 points, while Nixa and

Holt tied for fifth with 56 points apiece.

A day after the title, head coach Matt Neely said it felt like just another day at the office.
