The florists at Vintage Flower Market report a steady stream of customers ahead of Valentine’s Day on Friday. Roses remain the most popular flower selection, but florists Kara Creasy and Teresa Davis said the more common red and pinks are sometimes accompanied by yellow, orange and lavender roses. Variety bouquets of around eight flowers are also popular. These can include roses, wildflowers, lilies, ranunculus and other types of flowers. Creasy said that the flowers in these bouquets bloom at different intervals and thus last longer. Customers began to place their orders three weeks ago, but Creasy and Davis said that most place their orders this week. Davis explained that the shop does not receive its flowers until a few days before the holiday. For those who arrive at the store on Valentine’s Day with an order request, Creasy and Davis said that they are typically able to fulfill that order, though the customers may need to wait an hour. The store has offered an add-on of chocolate strawberries for the past five years, and Creasy and Davis said they were a sellout item every year. Davis added that the store gets requests for them throughout the year but that the fruit is only available around the holiday. Creasy and Davis said that business remains like that of prior years, and as of Monday, they had plenty of orders to fill. “We’re really appreciative of our customer base, new and old,” Davis said.
