Lebanon ends Blue and Gold drought, defeats Willard

Posted

12 years. 4,382 days. That is how much time had elapsed since the Lebanon Yellowjackets’ last first-round Blue and Gold victory on Dec. 27, 2010.

In every Blue and Gold since (excluding the 2020 edition, which Lebanon did not participate in due to COVID-19-related reasons), the Yellowjackets fell short in their opening round contest—in blowout fashion, in heartbreaking fashion, and everything in between. As the years passed and the drought grew longer, winning that first game of the Blue and Gold became one of the program’s top priorities and a goal that had begun to seem unachievable.

All of that changed on Monday Night.

The Yellowjackets, led by Wyatt Carr’s 21 points and late clutch shooting, finally shook the Blue and Gold monkey off their back with a 51-46 victory over the Willard Tigers.
