Lebanon defeats Rolla in a shootout

Posted

With 89 total points scored between the Lebanon Yellowjackets and Rolla Bulldogs on Friday night, the Yellowjackets came out victorious with a 48-41 victory at ‘Jacket Stadium.

Lebanon (5-3 overall) had over 420 yards of rushing on the night behind another dominant performance from the offensive line.

“It was good to sit back and watch the offense go to work,” defensive line coach Chris Britt said after the game. “Not many people have figured out how to stop them with the big hog bellies up front taking care of business.”

The Yellowjackets got off to a quick 6-0 lead after a five-play, 69-yard drive that resulted in a 23-yard touchdown by senior fullback Antonio Rogers with 10:11 left in the first quarter.

Rolla would strike back quickly to take a 7-6 lead after junior quarterback Adam Hounsom snuck in for a two-yard touchdown. Junior quarterback Peyton Mitchell had a quarterback sneak touchdown on the next drive with 11:12 left in the second quarter on a critical fourth and goal, but the two-point conversion failed to make the score 12-7.

Lebanon took a 26-14 lead heading into the half after Rolla connected on a touchdown pass to Issac Hunter from 27-yards out to chip away. On the kickoff to begin the second half, Rolla sophomore Brock Lyle returned the kickoff to the house to make it a 26-21 game.
