Lebanon defeats Camdenton to take Highway 5 trophy

Posted

CAMDENTON — The Lebanon football team avenged a 49 point loss last week to the West Plains Zizzers with a much-needed 14 point victory over their rival in the Camdenton Lakers on Friday night at Bob Shore Stadium, 52-38.

The ‘Jackets won the coveted Highway 5 trophy for the fourth time since the trophy originated in 2012. Head coach Will Christian won his eighth career game against the Lakers as his offense scored on every possession of the game besides the final possession when the team was in victory formation.

“We are just blessed to play football every week and happy to be on the field,” offensive line coach Garret Wade said after the game. “Last week, we tried to delete what happened and move forward. Camdenton is a great program, and we wish everyone could’ve been here, but the 400 that traveled here were in full spirit, and hopefully, we create some momentum heading into the final stretch of the season.”

Lebanon (4-3 overall) got off to a quick start to begin the game as senior Antonio Rogers rushed for a seven-yard touchdown, but a missed extra point kept the score at 6-0 with 9:30 left in the first quarter.
