Lebanon comes from behind to beat Bolivar

Posted

It finally felt like some normalcy in the air on Friday night. In front of a sold-out crowd at ‘Jacket Stadium, the Lebanon High School football team battled adversity for the second straight week to beat Bolivar on Homecoming, 27-15.

Lebanon (3-0 overall) entered the game ranked No. 9 in the most recent Missouri Class 5 standings and scored 27 unanswered points in a come-from-behind win, including 14 points in less than two minutes.

It started to look bleak for the ‘Jackets in the third quarter as the Liberators had done an excellent job on the defensive side of the football and took a 7-0 lead with 6:56 left to start the half after a quarterback sneak from senior Brant Meredith.

The Lebanon offense responded with a much-needed score from junior Nathan Bartel on a 32-yard scamper into the end zone. In the third quarter, senior Quinton Doughty nailed a critical extra point to tie the game at 7-7 with 3:55 left.
