Lebanon beats Rolla on Pink Night

Posted

The Lebanon High School volleyball team hosted their annual Pink Night in October to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness on Thursday night.
In front of a large home crowd, the varsity team pulled off a three-set win over the Rolla Bulldogs (25-13, 25-21, 25-14).
With the win, it improved Lebanon’s record to 17-5-2 (5-2 Ozark Conference). The ‘Jackets will likely reach the 20-win threshold this year and have already received the No. 2 seed in the Missouri Class 5 District 10 tournament.
“The varsity continues to show up giving solid play for three sets, earning another nice conference win moving their conference record to 5-2,” head coach Jenny Collins said. “I’m very proud of our defensive efforts starting at the net with our blockers (Karagan Bean two kill blocks) and moving all the way back to our deepest court defender Jocee Pettyjohn (22 digs).
“Rolla attacked at our setters trying to take them out of the offensive play, but our setters (Chloe Shivers and Jaidyn Collins) did a nice defending and making plays that allowed others to step in and continue to deliver good balls to our hitters.”
Addy Rebmann had 12 kills, while Myah Hough led the team with four aces.
“We had solid attacking led by Addy Rebmann (12 kills) and Myah Hough (10 kills), but it was Destiny Zimdars who was our biggest offensive threat terminating 8 of 11 attempts,” mentioned Collins. “I also felt that our servers served aggressively taking Rolla out of an in-system offense, and that helped us tremendously in our success.
“We did struggle on several occasions to come out of timeouts and respond in a way that kept the momentum in our favor.”
The freshman team won in two sets over the Bulldogs (25-11, 25-15). Kaidynce Buttram had six aces and five kills. Morgan Durbin had five aces and 11 assists, while Kaylee Uder led the way with eight digs. They improved to 18-6-1 on the season.
The varsity team also had a win over Waynesville Tuesday night on the road, beating the Tigers in three sets (25-17, 25-16, 25-23).
The JV team and freshman teams were also victorious, earning the program sweep.
“It was a solid night for the Lady volley ‘Jackets with a three-team sweep over conference opponent Waynesville,” Collins explained. “Since it had been a week break from gameplay, I thought our kids did a nice job of stepping out on the court ready to compete (on Tuesday).

“We were glad to have a small break from the hectic match play that we had seen the entire month of September and were glad to get the practice time to go back and work some fundamentals as well as have the time to break down further and improve upon specific areas of our gameplay.”
The JV team (25-22, 25-12) was led by Sadie Douglas, who had six kills and 12 assists. Ciaria Keeney had six kills, and Shelby Halstead added six digs. The team moved to 12-10 on the year.
Varsity stats for the Waynesville game are as followed:
