Lebanon baseball loses to Joplin in district action

Posted
A solid 18 win season came to an end for the Lebanon High School baseball team on Monday afternoon as the Joplin Eagles handled the Yellowjackets in the first round of the Missouri Class 6 District 6 tournament in Springfield, 7-1. With pouring rain hitting the field just minutes before the first, it made for slippery conditions in the outfield. Lebanon found out the hard way just how tricky footing was going to be in the game. Junior Zack Stewart allowed a leadoff single to Joplin third baseman Brody Carlson, but on a ball that should’ve been a double play turned into a fielding mistake by the ‘Jackets’ defense. Cole Cooper drew a full-count walk on a wild pitch to allow Carlson to score. For the complete story, see Wednesday's edition of the Record.
