LAURA "JUNE" STOUT

Laura “June” Stout, 90 of Conway, Missouri, died in her home Friday, Feb. 24, 2023.

June was born Sept. 11, 1932 in Cane Hill to Elmer Fox and Pearl Langford Fox. She was raised in Cedar County and at the age of 16, began teaching elementary students in rural schools.

On April 28, 1951, she was united in marriage to Merrill Jemes and to this union, one son, Roger, and two daughters, Rhonda and Rita were born. She moved to Laclede County with Merrill and she began her teaching career.

On Oct. 6, 1967, June was united in marriage to James Kenton Stout, and they added Sandy, Mike and Annie to the family. Together they raised their blended family, which June called ‘The Brady Bunch’.

June graduated from Stockton High School and graduated from Drury University with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She taught in country schools, as well as public schools and retired from Conway School District.

In addition to teaching, June worked on their dairy farm and raising their blended family of six children.

June professed her faith in Jesus Christ at a young age and later became a member at Phillipsburg Christian Church.

June was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, on March 10, 2010; her parents; a brother, Leland Fox and her sister, Neva Eastman; two sons-in-law, Ron Beal and Chester Wood; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Sagar; and a brother-in-law, Terry Stout.

She is survived by her children, Rhonda Wood, Roger Jemes and his wife, Anna and Rita Clinkenbeard and her husband, John, all of Conway; her step-children, Sandy Beal of Lebanon; Michael Stout and his wife, Theresa and Annie Welch and her husband, Robin, all of Conway; 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and one on the way; seven great-great-grandchildren and two on the way; her sister, Eden Phillips of Lockwood, and Wilbur Fox of Springfield; one sister-in-law, Dottie Stout of Conway, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 2 at Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.

A memorial has been established to Ozark Community Chapel Cemetery Fund or St. Jude’s Hospital. Donations may be left at the funeral home.
