It was raining for Ladies Fishing Day with a little lightning and thunder thrown in.
That did not make a huge impact on the numbers of ladies that ventured out Saturday morning to take advantage of a free tag, a heavily stocked stream and a roped off area of zone two in Bennett Spring State Park.
Ladies of many ages claimed 581 free tags, down just 19 or so from last year. And the fishing was good.
“It’s been a good day. A lot of fish coming out of the stream,” Hatchery Manager and event organizer Ben Havens said Saturday morning.
Given periodic rain. an early storm and more pressing weekend activities, the numbers were even stronger.
