Laclede County launches job openings website

Posted

“Laclede County, Mo. has jobs”, is the message Lebanon officials want to spread. A new website www.lacledecountymohasjobs.com has just been launched by a joint effort of the Lebanon Area Chamber of Commerce and Lebanon REDI (Regional Economic Development).

Job seekers can go to the website and see jobs available from local industries and other employers. The website is a part of a regional marketing push by the Chamber and REDI to make people aware that there are jobs in Laclede County. “We’re pushing it now because we have 1,000 jobs open here,” Brian Thompson, Lebanon REDI Executive Director said. “That number sounds astronomical, but it’s not. You can just drive around and see the hiring signs everywhere.”

The employment rate in Laclede County is 4.7 percent, which Thompson said is the best rate the county has seen in a year.

The marketing effort, made possible by Laclede County Cares Act Funds, will reach people who live within driving distance of Lebanon in hopes of filling a number of the open positions.

According to Darrell Pollock, Lebanon Area Chamber of Commerce President, “One business had 100 positions available, did a traditional job fair and had 10 applicants.” Pollock went on to explain reaching outside of Lebanon with the marketing will allow the Chamber and REDI to tell the Lebanon jobs story.

Both Pollock and Thompson stressed workers should feel confident in going back to work in Lebanon safely and stressed that Lebanon businesses and industries are going “above and beyond” with protocols to detect and protect employees from the Covid-19 virus. “Our employers are doing what they can to keep everybody safe. We know there’s no foolproof, but our companies are doing the best they can, office temperature checks, distancing and face shields. You can go back to work safely”, Thompson said.

Thompson went on to say that many Lebanon companies have great training opportunities. Some training opportunities could be through Ozarks Technical College or other workforce development courses.

“We have great opportunities for people who live just outside of Laclede County. Everybody who wants to work in Laclede County, most likely is employed,” Thompson said.
