The home of jailed alleged kidnapper James Phelps burned to the ground Monday night, according to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office.
Also Monday night, an explosive device was detonated in a controlled explosion by a fire department at the scene on Moon Valley Road near Windyville. Multiple fire departments showed up to contain the fire.
A Dallas County deputy found something that resembled a tripwire near the fire and the Springfield Fire Department’s bomb squad was called in to investigate, the sheriff’s office said.
