Julia (Bookhout) Saltzman

Julia (Bookhout) Saltzman was born Jan. 2, 1941, and passed away March 23, 2024.

Julia retired from Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, Mo. where she was a nurse for 30 years.

She is survived by her husband George Saltzman; children Alisa (Steve) Scantlan, Mary (Roger) Hopkins, David, Valerie (Hank) Lore, and Melinda (Brandon) Lahmann; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; sister Janice Bookhout, brother Paul Bookhout; nieces, nephews and many mother relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ferd and Virginia (Bradley) Bookhout, two sons Christopher and Christian, two infant sisters Linda Sue and Rose Marie, and her brother Joe Don and sister-in-law Kay Bookhout.

She was an avid reader and lover of books. She loved Elvis, fried chicken, scary movies, animals, gardening, cooking, being a homemaker, and most of all her beloved family. She was most happy surrounded by her loved ones at family gatherings.

Julia was saved at High Point Baptist Church, Stoutland, Mo. at age 12 and baptized in Sellers Creek. Julia was an active member of Temple Baptist Church, Sullivan, Mo. She went on a mission trip to Wyoming and a medical mission trip to Africa.

Services were held at Temple Baptist Church, Sullivan, Mo. on March 28, 2024, with interment in Crow Cemetery, Sullivan, Mo.
