Joe Robert Winfrey, 90, of Lebanon, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2020, in St. James.
He was born May 11, 1930, in Lebanon, Mo. to Arch and Ida Phillips Winfrey.
On Feb. 24, 1961, he married Rosalie Kathner.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two siblings, Lee Winfrey and his wife Edna Mae and Jean Winfrey Jennings.
Joe proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. He entered on July 8, 1954, and received his honorable discharge on June 18, 1957, after obtaining the rank of Captain. After leaving the service, Joe returned home and was a mail carrier until his retirement at the age of 57.
He was a longtime, active and faithful member of Community Baptist Church, where he also served as a deacon for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Rosalie; one son, Mike Winfrey and his wife Kelly of Lebanon; two daughters, Christy Leighty and her husband Grant of Camdenton, and Angie Winfrey of Rolla; two very special grandsons, Justin Short and his wife Jessica and Aaron Short and his wife Julie; several step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Joe Robert Winfrey will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2020, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel with Allen Reeves officiating. Burial will be in Dotson Cemetery, under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel of Lebanon. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until service time also on Tuesday at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.
