Joan H. Arthur, 90, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2021, in Lebanon.
She was born Oct. 29, 1930, in South Dakota to Howard and Lillian Renning Chase.
On Aug. 27, 1960, she married Sam Arthur.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband George Samuel (Sam) Arthur, who died May 9, 2013; by her brother, Arthur Chase and by a sister, Melba Spaethe.
Joan graduated from high school in Miami, Fla. She attended the University of Miami and the University of Iowa. She taught physical education in both Florida and California. She moved to the Lebanon community in 1993.
She was a longtime, faithful and active member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her son, Dennis Arthur of Sylmar, Calif.; her daughter, Brenda Carpenter and her husband Bob of Tucson, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Raymond Carpenter and Reannon Prosser; several great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
A memorial service for Joan A. Arthur will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021, in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marsha Vincent officiating, under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel of Lebanon.
Visitation for Joan will begin at 10 a.m. prior to the service at 11 a.m., also at First United Methodist Church.
