JEWELL CHLOE ADAMS

Jewell Chloe Adams, 95, of Springfield, formerly of Buffalo, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2023, at her home.

She was born Nov. 21, 1927, to Joe and Lettie (Daulton) Turner.

On July 19, 1946, she was united in marriage to Cecil Adams.

She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil; her parents; a grandson, Christopher Doke; three brothers, Billy Joe, James, and Bobbie Wayne Turner, and two sisters, Wanda Skinner and Betty Rogers.

Chloe was born in Buffalo and attended Engle School and New Liberty (Chicago) School, where she graduated from the eighth grade. She and her husband moved to California shortly after marrying, then to Illinois, and back to Missouri where she worked at the Mill Street Laundry, and later became a homemaker and raised six children. She also volunteered as a “Pink Lady’’ for over 20 years at Cox Hospital. Chloe enjoyed spending time with her family, loved working in the garden, annual family garage sales, and Friday night suppers with her family.

She was saved in the fall of 1939 during a revival and was baptized into the North Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children, Linda (Junior) McCullough of Springfield; Gene (Lynda) Adams of Elkland; Brenda (Darrell) Fausett of Billings; Glenda (Danny) Doke of Halfway; P.J. (Tony) Hilburn of Springfield, and Mike (Chris) Adams of Cape Fair; 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Faye Howe of Buffalo and Evelyn Hale of Bolivar; many nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.

Funeral services for Jewell Chloe Adams were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home in Buffalo with Bro. Dennis Skinner officiating. Burial was in Macedonia Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Macedonia Cemetery and can be left at the funeral home.
