JEB lets parents know about possible bus changes

Posted
The Joel E. Barber School is having trouble finding substitute drivers and is asking parents’ input on what to do if enough drivers are not available. In a letter to parents, the school says it hopes it doesn’t have to make any bus route changes and parents will be notified if any of three options being considered are implemented. School Superintendent Rachelle Jennings said the school district sent the letter in an attempt to be proactive and let parents know what might happen as a result of the bus driver issues. “We just wanted to make sure that parents understood that if we have to cancel sports trips or if we have to run double routes or ask students who live closest to the school to no longer ride a bus,” she said. According to a letter sent to parents, Jennings said, “It is is becoming increasingly more difficult to find drivers and substitute drivers. We do our best to juggle sports scheduled and transportation for away games, including having our coaches drive the bus to their own games.” For more on this story see the LCR.
