J.E.B. Board votes to push school opening

Posted
The Joel E. Barber C-5 School District is moving the start of school to Sept. 8 after a series of COVID-19 cases were linked to summer school classes. The Joel E. Barber School Board made the decision by a 7-0 vote at an emergency meeting held via Zoom Thursday evening. Superintendent Rachelle Jennings recommended the Sept. 8 date. Jennings gave the school board two options for a new start date. The first option, which was selected by the board, was to move school back two weeks and start on Sept. 8 following the Labor Day weekend. For more on this story see Saturday's LCR.
