Janice Faye Lawrence, 80, of Lebanon, died Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 29, 2020, at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach.
She was born March 16, 1940, in Waukesha, Wis. to Willard and Arlyn Turks Smith, who preceded her in death.
On Aug. 14, 1965, she married George R. Lawrence.
Janet was born and raised in Wisconsin and graduated from Waukesha High School. After high school, she continued to live in Wisconsin and managed a dry cleaning business for a time. After she and George were married, they moved to North Prairie, Wis. and worked for the Generac Corporation for several years. In 1976 they moved to Lebanon, and owned and operated Forrest Manor Motel for a couple of years. They then returned to Wisconsin where they purchased The Chalet Hotel which they operated for several years. They purchased several motels and hotels throughout Wisconsin and operated them for a number of years. In 2006, they sold the last of their motels and retired to Lebanon. Through the years, Janice was always a devoted homemaker to her husband and family.
She was raised in the Catholic faith and maintained her connection with the church throughout her life.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, George of the home; a daughter, Vicki Benner and her husband Jim of Niangua; a granddaughter, Amber Benner and her husband Keith of Askov, Minn.; a great-granddaughter, Isabella; two sisters, Audrey Pike of Cherokee Village, Ark., and Elaine Riddick of Rocky Mount, Va.; several nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Janice Faye Lawrence will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, 2021, at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon with Father David Miller officiating. Entombment will be in the Mount Rose Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
