James Ronnie Blevins, 84, of Flemington, died Friday morning, Feb. 12, 2021, at Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar.

He was born Jan. 23, 1937, in Ozark, Mo. to Holland and Louise Smith Blevins.

On Dec. 12, 1970, he married Leta A. Pape, and they shared the last 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gary; and two sisters, Judy and Anna.

James was born and raised in Ozark, and then moved with his family to Springfield, where he graduated from Central High School. He apprenticed under his uncle who taught him how to operate printing presses. In the mid 1960’s, he moved to Grandview, and worked for the Daily Record newspaper for a number of years. In 2000, he and Leta moved to Flemington, Mo. and made their home.

He had made his profession of faith in Christ and he and Leta had attended Lebanon First Baptist Church for several years.

Survivors include his wife Leta A. Blevins of the home; three sons, James Anthony Blevins and his wife Cherise of Lee’s Summit; Dennis Blevins and his wife Julie and Daniel Blevins and his wife Shari, all of Pueblo, Colo.; a daughter, Dorothy Carroll and her husband Bill of Pueblo, Colo.; two grandchildren, Justin and Jamie; and a number of other great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for James Ronnie Blevins will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021, at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon with the Rev. Tim Howe officiating. Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park, under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon. A memorial to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has been established and contributions may be made through the funeral home.
