James Ronald “Jim’’ Benner, 69, of Niangua, Mo., died Friday August 8, 2025, in Niangua, Mo.
He was born November 1, 1955, in Lebanon, Mo. to Ronald H. and Thelma A. (Price) Benner.
On January 23, 1982, he was united in marriage to Vicki Lawrence.
Those preceding him in death include his parents and his mother-in-law, Janice Lawrence.
After graduating from Lebanon High School with the class of 1974, Jim went on to attend Southwest Missouri State University, where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Auto Mechanics. Jim also proudly served our country with the United States Marine Corps, where he earned the rank of Corporal. He worked in various occupations over the years, most recently as a building engineer for the prison. He loved many things about this life. Time spent and laughter shared with his family is what he treasured most.
Jim is survived by his wife, Vicki; one daughter, Amber Benner and her husband, Keither of Askov, Minn.; one granddaughter, Isabella “Scooter” Marchand; siblings, Joe Benner and his wife Lynn, John Benner, Nancy Dame and her husband Luke and Cyndi Myers and her husband, Skip, all of Lebanon, Mo.; nieces and nephews, Andrea, Mindy, Justin, Scott, Jenny and Missy; his father-in-law, George Lawrence; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for James R. “Jim’’ Benner will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 15, 2025, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Marsha Vincent officiating. There is no scheduled burial. His wishes were to be cremated following the funeral service.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time, also on Friday at First United Methodist Church.
Memorials have been suggested to American Legion Post No. 77 (located in Simla, Colorado, where he was Legion Commander.) Donations can be left at or mailed to Shadel’s Colonial Chapel, 1001 N. Lynn or P.O. Box 948, Lebanon, Mo. 65536.
