Jackets’ historic season ends in district semifinals

Posted
A historic spring season for the Lebanon High School baseball team ended on Thursday afternoon when the ‘Jackets fell to the Vianney Golden Griffins in the Class 6 District 2 semifinals in 4.5 innings, 11-0. The loss doesn’t take away from the season the Yellowjackets gave to the community under first-year head coach Alex Weathermon. In 2023, LHS finished the spring with a record-setting 24 wins and just nine losses while finishing second in a talented Ozark Conference. “Our first season here was a huge success,” said Weathermon about the year. “The 2022 summer team had an overall record of 6-13, so we didn't know where we would be playing a very young lineup. The kids bought into our system, outworked many teams in the offseason, and let the results show on the field. Their work ethic, combined with parents willing to get them to our workouts and the willingness of our assistant coaches to volunteer their time, made this season a great one to build upon.
