Hunter follows father's path and a career he loves

Posted

Firefighting and public service both run in the
family for John Hunter, a captain with the Lebanon
Fire Department.
Hunter has been with the department for nearly
20 years and his father, Tom “Tommy” Hunter, was
also a firefighter with the Lebanon Fire Department
in the 1970s, but Hunter said that’s not really why
he chose the occupation.
He said his parents had separated when he was
young.
“I was following paths my father took and I
hadn’t seen my father for many years, so it was
kind of odd and neat all at the same time,” Hunter
said.
“I started with the volunteer fire service."
