Hubert “Bert’’ Darling Jr., 85, of Lebanon, died Sunday, June 3, 2023, in Springfield.
He was born Feb. 23, 1938, in Midland, Mich. to Hubert Arthur and Geneveve Kellogg Darling.
On July 26, 1964, he was united in marriage to Donna Lee Wilson.
Those preceding him in death include his parents and two sisters, Dorothy Byrd and Martha Darling.
Hubert attended Dow Elementary School in Midland, Mich. He later attended OAMI, where he received a diploma for Office Machine Mechanics and repaired office machines for many years. He retired from Lebanon R-III School District as a delivery driver for Tenco School Supplies. For several years he was employed at Copeland and also sold Oreck Vacuum Sweepers.
He was a faithful and active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for many years and most recently attended Family Church while living with his daughter.
Hubert is survived by his wife Donna Darling; daughter, Debbie Love and her husband Paul Yakle of Lebanon; his son, David Darling of Lebanon; a sister, Fay Wilson of Burlington, N.C.; 11 grandchildren, Bobby Love and his wife Marika, April Love, Darcy Wilson, Nick Love, Samantha Henson and her husband Corey, Kaleb Yakle, Amanda Darling, Daniel Darling, Christian Sibley, Bethany Darling and Quyntan Darling; 20 great-grandchildren and two on the way; other relatives and dear friends.
Funeral services for Hubert “Bert’’ Darling Jr. will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2023, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel with Mike Allen officiating. Burial will be in Stoutland Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel. Memorials have been suggested in memory of Herbert to the PAN Foundation (Prescription Assistance) or to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
