Cedar Ridge Trails Horsecamp LLC

David and Lana Bruce moved to Laclede County from Illinois in the late 1990’s and bought a farm that included an 1860’s farmhouse in serious need of renovation. Lana’s plans for what eventually became Cedar Ridge Trails Horsecamp LLC didn’t come to pass for several years. Lana worked for 13 years as the manager of Orscheln Farm and Home in Waynesville before a career change had her looking at other options. After going back to college for a year, including taking some computer classes, Bruce was encouraged to start teaching horseback riding lessons. Something she had done in the past. Growing up a horse lover but not a horse owner until later, Bruce’s early equine adventures came as a young girl, riding her friends’ horses. They always kept an extra for her to ride. Friends and horses have always been a part of her life. Bruce smiled when mentioning that her parents claim “horse” was her first word. As a youth, she ventured into the world of horse showing, not having any prior knowledge or much help, and found her first experiences to be more of learning than of winning.
