Hornets sting 'Jackets in season opener

Posted
CLEVER — It was a rough season opener for the Lebanon boys’ basketball team on Monday night. The Yellowjackets fell to the Hillcrest Hornets in the first round of the 87th Annual Clever Invitational by a score of 70-53. Things looked promising for the ‘Jackets (0-1 overall) to start the game as senior Tyler Williamson hit a three-pointer and a putback layup to put LHS on top 5-2 in the first two minutes of the game. Lebanon hit a dry spell and could only muster those five points in the entire first quarter, but only trailed by five with three quarters to play. In the second quarter, senior Josh Napper buried a three-pointer from the top of the key to square things up at 12 apiece, but the Hornets would answer with a 13-0 run midway through the second quarter to take a 25-12 lead. Napper would eventually end the Hornets’ run with a mid-range jump shot. For more on this story see Wednesday's LCR.
