Teacher, students dig into school history

Posted

Gasconade C-4 School District teacher Renee Lane and her students are digging into the history of the school district from a one-room schoolhouse to what it is today.

History is important to Lane who jumped at a chance to teach at the same school district her mother had attended as a child. Although Lane started her career teaching in Orlando, Fla., she and her mother moved back to Laclede County to be closer to family. While Lane never lived in Laclede County, her mother had grown up in the area.

“I was putting out resumes, and I got a phone call from Mr. Bogle, who is our superintendent,” Lane said. She knew she had to accept the position when she found out her mother had gone to school at Gasconade.

Lane teaches fifth through eighth grade English language arts, seventh and eighth grade history, a Productions class and is the Drama Club director.
