Harkness recognized for a half-century of service to Scouting

Posted
Bob Harkness has spent 50 years in Scouting and was recognized twice recently for these five decades of involvement and leadership with Scouts. The first ceremony took place Sept. 2 at Camp Arrowhead near Marshfield as part of the 100th Anniversary celebration. Harkness said it was not a huge surprise since he did the paperwork for his 50-year badge and pin. The second one occurred Oct. 8 and was a definite surprise. It happened at the First United Methodist Church, Harkness’ church, thanks to his friend and fellow Scouting enthusiast, John Sode. “That was a surprise, but when he went up front in the church, I figured there was something coming up,” Harkness said.
