Bob Harkness has spent 50 years in Scouting and was recognized twice recently for these five decades of involvement and leadership with Scouts.
The first ceremony took place Sept. 2 at Camp Arrowhead near Marshfield as part of the 100th Anniversary celebration. Harkness said it was not a huge surprise since he did the paperwork for his 50-year badge and pin.
The second one occurred Oct. 8 and was a definite surprise. It happened at the First United Methodist Church, Harkness’ church, thanks to his friend and fellow Scouting enthusiast, John Sode.
“That was a surprise, but when he went up front in the church, I figured there was something coming up,” Harkness said.
