The Stoutland Tigers have won two games in a row and evened their record at 9-9.
The Stoutland Tigers used good pitching and took advantage of six errors to pick up a 4-1 Frisco League win over the Plato Eagles on Monday.
Riley Bench picked up his third consecutive pitching win. He struck out 10 and allowed only three hits in five and two-thirds innings and one earned run. Bench is 3-1 on the year with a 2.53 ERA. Brodie Millsap picked up his third save of the year. The junior lefthander pitched an inning and a third of no-hit relief. He struck out three; he walked one. Millsap, like Bench, has been stingy on the hill with an ERA of 1.94. He has struck out 70 hitters in 36 innings of work. Bench has worked 27 innings with 34 strikeouts.
The Tigers got a much-needed win with a 9-1 victory over Climax Springs on senior night last Thursday. With the win over Climax Springs, the Tigers are now 2-2 against teams in Class 1 District 8. They have the third most wins in the current district standings.
Junior righthander Riley Bench got the pitching win. He allowed two runs, no earned, on two hits over three and one-third innings. He struck out four and walked three. Brodie Millsap worked in relief and picked up his second save of the year. He threw three and one-third innings, allowed no hits, and struck out seven.
The Cougars scored their lone run of the game in the top of the second inning and led 1-0. Stoutland bounced back in the bottom of the first inning when the Tigers' Brandon Sterling grounded into a fielder's choice but drove in a run. Millsap then singled and drove in two runs. Millsap and Sterling each drove in three runs in the game. Rowdy Danuser also drove in a run for the Tigers in the third inning. Stoutland banged out seven hits in the game.
