Junior becomes first girls swimming State qualifier in school history

For the first time in school history, the Lebanon girls’ swim team advanced a swimmer to the State swim meet that will be held this Thursday-Saturday in St. Peters at the City of St. Peters Rec-Plex. Junior Grace Johnson has been a tremendous leader for the Lady ‘Jackets swim team in and out of the water, and over the weekend, her hard work paid off in the 200 IM as she punched her ticket to the State meet.

“Grace has exceptional work ethic,” head coach Heidi Conti mentioned. “She comes to every practice and swims her best every practice. She’s one of those athletes that you ask to do something different or faster, and she does it.”

Johnson said that it felt great that all of the time she has spent in the water finally paid off.

“I was very happy with dropping time at the (qualifying) meet,” she said. “The challenge came with having to swim each event twice due to making it to finals.”
