Gloria Pearcy Mount

Posted

Gloria Jean (Knight) Pearcy Mount was born on Halloween in 1945 to Othel Clarence Knight and Mary Virginia (Dowell) Knight in the home of her grandparents in Buffalo, MO. She left the burdens of this world behind and joined the love of her life, Donald Duane Pearcy, in heaven on June 16, 2025.

Gloria was a proud graduate of the Lebanon High School Class of 1963. Growing up in the Oakland, Lebanon and Phillipsburg areas, she attended elementary school at Dalton, Bacon and Dry & Dusty. She made many lifelong friends in these rural schools and always considered herself a “country kid.” In her youth, she attended Liberty Freewill Baptist Church where she later married Donald on April 3, 1965.

Prior to Donald’s battle with cancer and passing on May 12, 1988, they lovingly raised their children in the house they dreamed of and built together. Her life was all about home and family. She was an excellent cook, often raised a garden, and made her home a sanctuary of love. A place of laughter, homemade pizza, and warmth where her children’s friends and nieces and nephews loved to visit.

She and Donald enjoyed their Harley Davidson motorcycle trips to Colorado with family, creating some of the best stories. Playing cards and Sunday dinners at her parents’ home were times she enjoyed tremendously.

She later married Phillip Austin Mount, of Joplin, in June 11,1994. Together, they enjoyed boating on Grand Lake, traveling in their motorcoach, shows in Branson and the antics of their beloved Yorkie, Breezy, He preceded her in death on June 12, 2020.

The legacy she leaves behind are her three children: Shellie Dawn (Michael) Weaver, Todd Duane (Stacey) Pearcy and Lori Jean Turner, all of Lebanon, seven grandchildren: Garrett Duane (Amanda) Weaver, of Olathe, KS; Olivia Paige Weaver and Giulio Paciletti, of Carl Junction, MO; Grant Michael (Lily) Weaver, of Springfield; Morgan Brooke (Grant) Sharp; Nicholas Todd (Kiarra) Pearcy, all of Lebanon; Emma Jean Turner, and Whitson Donald Pearcy-Cook, all of Lebanon. Her littlest loves are great-grandchildren: Hudson Donald Weaver, Cora Loree Sharp, Cain Allen Sharp, Kase Albert Pearcy and Kori Kay Pearcy.

She made a promise to Morgan and Grant in her last days to take good care of sweet Crew Duane Sharp, who preceded her in death on July 30, 2024, until they join her in Heaven. Gloria’s siblings waiting to welcome her home were: Ronnie Knight, Nancy Knight Bruckerhoff, Leona Irvine, Darlene Irvine, Tommy Knight, Othel C. Knight, Jr. and Deana Neasby Dort. She was also preceded in death by brother-in-laws, David Pearcy and Donnie Maxey; and sisters-in-law, Linda Pearcy and Paula Pearcy Maxey.

Also left behind to mourn her passing are her sister, Patty (Delbert) Butler, of Rolla, brothers-in-law: Jimmy Pearcy, Kenny (Susan) Pearcy, all of Lebanon; Duane Bruckerhoff, of Wentzville; sister-in-law, Sherry Knight, of Conway, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Gloria’s suffering is over and we pray that Heaven is filled with the most beautiful birds, flowers, stars, and sunsets. These things brought her joy. She will be remembered for her complete devotion to her family, the beautiful, sparkling smile that lit up any space, her wicked sense of humor, but mostly for the love she showered on everyone she knew. We thank God for His glory and assurance that she will be waiting for us and we’ll never again experience the sorrow of parting.
