Ginny Dorn was born August 12, 1946, to Bernie Shook and Thelma Whitehurst Shook who passed September 26, 2026, after several years of failing health.
During her childhood, her family lived in Lebanon, Missouri, where she graduated from high school in 1964. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology in 1968 from the University of Missouri in Columbia and shortly thereafter married her college sweetheart, Steve Dorn, who was serving in the U.S. Army in Germany. They later settled in Camdenton, where their daughter Rachel was born in 1973. Ginny had a 20 year career in social work, serving as a case worker for the Camden County Division of Family Services.
Ginny brought passion to everything she did in life, starting with her faith. She was a dedicated member of the Camdenton Community Christian Church for more than 50 years. She was fiercely outspoken about her politics and gave untold time and effort to causes in which she believed. She was an avid proponent of public libraries and the importance of reading. Herself a voracious reader, she was always talking about the newest book she was reading. Most of all, Ginny was passionate about, and dedicated to, her family, daughter Rachel and granddaughter Stephania, whom she cherished.
Arrangements for a Celebration of Life for Ginny will be announced at a later date.
